They are made of a PTFE composite material, e.g. T3WG, the shape of their cross-section is defined as "V".

Inside the cross-section an elastic metal element is placed, to exert a constant pressure on the sealing lips /external and internal/, particularly at temperatures above 120oC, when the PTFE material starts to lose its elasticity.
